TINMOUTH COMMUNITY FUND

The Tinmouth Community Fund was organized in December, 1999 under the umbrella of the Vermont Community Foundation. The initial funds were provided from the left over contributions received for the Tinmouth Community Center.

The purpose of the Tinmouth Community Fund is “TO PROVIDE FUNDING OF NEEDED SERVICES AND FACILITIES FOR THE WELL BEING OF THE CITIZENS OF AND FOR THE SENSE OF COMMUNITY IN THE TOWN OF TINMOUTH.”

All contributions to the Fund are tax deductible. Send contributions to the Tinmouth Community Fund and not to the Vermont Community Foundation.

It has been the intent of the fund to utilize the interest generated from the principal to fund grants on an annual basis. We, however, reserve the right to invade the principal if appropriate projects exceed our annual granting. Most grants issued in the past have not exceeded $500.00. It has not been the practice to fund grants where money can be acquired elsewhere.

2008 APPROVED GRANT AWARDS:
MINUTES OF PREVIOUS MEETING;
A special meeting was called on October 11, 2008 to discuss two items. A quorum of directors was present. Ramsey Yoder, Gail Fallar, Melody Squier, Maria Fish, Stan Wilbur. A request for an additional bench was approved for the Town Office to be added on to the original request due to the ability to purchase the benches at a lower cost that originally anticipated.
The second item on the agenda was to entertain the idea that the TCF would offer a potential loan to the Town for the town’s chances of getting a grant for the beginning of the restoration of the Old Creamery. The grant if approved by the Preservation Trust of up to $15,000 would have to be matched by outside contributions. Our ability to obtain the grant should be known by the end of the calendar year. Loan approval would show a good faith effort to match whatever grant was approved. TCF will hold another meeting if the grant is approved to determine whether to accept the grant by funding the matching funds or to seek outside contributions in lieu of TCF supporting the effort. There was unanimous approval of the resolution.
