ODYSSEY TEAM WINS AGAIN!
In early March, the “Solarfest” team did it again by winning first place in the State Finals of the problem solving competition, Odyssey of the Mind. This is the third time this team has placed at the State Finals. Placing 1st or 2nd earns the opportunity to travel to College Park Maryland for the Odyssey of the Mind 2008 World Finals at the end of May. At World Finals, the teams will compete with the top-ranked teams from almost every U.S. state and from 20 other countries.

With Odyssey of the Mind, children are challenged to find a creative solution for a prescribed problem. This year the team solved ”The Eccentrics” problem. Odyssey of the Mind challenges kids to “think outside the box” and solve complex problems with constructive and dramatic solutions that are entirely team generated.

We are fundraising for all seven children and one coach to go to World Finals. In order to drive there with our props and participate in the four day event we need to raise approximately $6,000 in eight weeks. We are asking for financial support towards this educational, creative and energetic project. Your generous tax deductible donation will help give these kids a great opportunity and valuable learning.

Team members include: Tara Beattie, Izzy Fontein, Ellie Hasenohr, Katy Czar, Kiera Nauton, Aislinnn Gilmour and Chelsea Young. Their coach is Cathy Reynolds. All are from Middletown Springs or Tinmouth, Vermont.
